This modular build is something different from all others we’ve looked at in the past – this 3 story modular build by AFOL Alan Cheung from Hong Kong is based on his hometown – a landmark, historical building “Wo Cheong Pawn Shop” in Hong Kong.
We like this build for the fact that, there currently isn’t an Asian-themed modular build in the LEGO collection just yet, and the look-and-feel of this one really brings out the Asian flavor.
You’ll find in this 3 story build some of the most typical things you’ll find in Hong Kong – including a Chinese restaurant (also known as “cha chaan teng” in their local dialect), where they serve up favorites amongst Hong Kongers such as milk tea and egg tart. You’ll also find a pawn shop, where citizens visit to offer their valuables in exchange for money. Also, you’ll find some of the common sights by residents including the clothes drying, morning exercise for the elderly at the rooftop, playing of mahjong (a 4-player tile-based game that’s very popular in Hong Kong), as well as other Chinese traditions in action. If you’ve visited Hong Kong before, you’ll be able to relate to all these scenes found in this modular build. ?
That said, here are more closeup photos of this build. Check them out and let us know of your thoughts of this build (18 photos in total):
Would You Like To Add This Asian-Flavored Modular Build To Your LEGO Town?
As we’ve mentioned earlier, this idea of an Asian-flavored modular build is something we have not seen in any of the LEGO Creator Expert sets so far – which is why we’d really love to see this submission eventually accepted and produced as an official LEGO set.
