I’m building this with my son right now. It’s so much fun, with fairly easily to follow directions for my 5 year old (some assistance required). It helps pass the time during winter and limit screen time.

This is the most creative LEGO set I’ve built yet! And when it is done, the ship is breath-taking! I agree with the other review….buy buy buy before it is gone!
Stunningly beautiful model – By Dan Harlow on February 6, 2016
I’m not a really big Ninjago fan, however, I absolutely had to own this beautiful model. This is also the first really large and complex build I’ve ever done but it was a wonderful building experience.
I was a bit intimidated by there being well over 1000 pieces to this set, but LEGO always makes it easy to guide you step by step through the build. And this set has a ton of small builds that add up to the overall model. There is a complex and working sail system, the ship fires projectiles, the rear bridge has a hinged access with a detailed deck and hidden vehicle – there’s a lot going on here.
In fact the parts I didn’t like had nothing to do with the ship: the dragon. The dragon stands very unstable and it can only ever stand on its hind legs (when it stands on all fours it look comically bad) meaning that if you put a rider on it the rider will be sitting parallel to the ground and looks bad. The head of the dragon is something Picasso would have designed in that it resembles a dragons head, but is too abstract to be very good. 31032: Red Creatures has the best dragon head I’ve yet seen.
There are a lot of minifigures, but half of them are ghastly green demon things that I didn’t care for. I don’t watch the show and so I have no interest in the bad guys. The good guys are much better looking, however.
But even with the stuff I didn’t care for, this was a great purchase and I loved putting this together. I learned more building this one model than pretty much any other LEGO build I’ve yet done. It took me awhile (5 hours – though I was also watching the AFC Championship game at the same time) but I will have this ship displayed for years to come.
Fantastic building experience, beautiful ship, horrible dragon, expensive ($120 new at Target US), lots of play potential.
One of the more complex Ninjago sets, great fun to assemble, with fun moving parts – By J. A. Quayle on January 25, 2016
We made our son save up over 6 months of chores for this. He’s obsessed on Ninjago, and this prize kept him focused on being helpful. It is a complex set, our son is 6 years old, and had a couple of issues there were easily fixed. The multi-shot canons on the side are great fun.
Fun kit! – By Delonna on December 27, 2015
Of course the 8 year old LOVED this. I opened the box and individually wrapped the bags because this is an expensive kit and therefore was the bulk of his Christmas. I loved hearing him shout, “Hey Mom!! Look at this!!!” As he demonstrated another movement.
Great set! – By Robert Jackson on December 21, 2015
My seven year old was able to build this by himself. An awesome gift for Ninjago fans!

My grandson love this and started building the ship right away. Sent me a picture of all the items he built.
